Keto Sautéed Cabbage Recipe

Ingredients

  • ½ head green cabbage, thinly sliced
  • 15 ml olive oil
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 7 g unsalted butter (optional, for extra flavour)
  • 7 ml balsamic vinegar (optional, for extra flavour)
  • 5 g sea salt (to taste)
  • 1 g black pepper (to taste)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Cabbage:

    • Cut the cabbage into quarters and remove the core. Slice the cabbage thinly and separate into shreds.
  2. Sauté the Garlic:

    • Heat olive oil in a large (12-13 inch) pan with tall sides over medium-high heat.
    • Add minced garlic and sauté for 1 minute, until fragrant.
  3. Cook the Cabbage:

    • Add the shredded cabbage to the pan. If it doesn’t all fit, add in batches, letting it wilt slightly before adding more.
    • Sauté for 10-15 minutes, stirring every 1-2 minutes to allow browning and caramelisation. Avoid constant stirring to ensure the cabbage browns properly.
  4. Add Optional Ingredients:

    • In the last minute or two of cooking, reduce heat to medium-low. Stir in butter until melted and/or balsamic vinegar for added flavour.
  5. Season and Serve:

    • Remove from heat and season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve warm as a side dish.
