  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Servings: 2

Ingredients

  • 1 medium zucchini
  • ½ large egg (beaten)
  • 37.5 g grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 g garlic powder (about ⅛ tsp)
  • 1 g black pepper (optional, about ⅛ tsp)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven:

    • Preheat the oven to 218°C (425°F).
    • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and lightly grease it.
  2. Prepare Zucchini Sticks:

    • Cut the zucchini lengthwise into quarters, then slice each quarter in half to make 16 sticks (approximately 10 cm long and 1 cm thick).
    • If the zucchini sticks feel wet, pat them dry with paper towels.
  3. Set Up Coating Stations:

    • In one shallow bowl, place the beaten egg.
    • In another shallow bowl, mix the parmesan cheese, garlic powder, and black pepper.
  4. Coat the Zucchini:

    • Dip each zucchini stick in the egg, shake off excess, and then press into the parmesan mixture, coating all sides.
    • Place the coated sticks on the prepared baking sheet in a single layer without touching.
  5. Bake the Fries:

    • Bake for 15-20 minutes, flipping the fries and rotating the pan halfway through, until they are golden brown.
    • For extra crispiness, place under the broiler for 2-3 minutes until darker golden.
  6. Serve:

    • Serve hot as a side dish or snack with your favourite dipping sauce.
